Growth is still going strong for visitors by airplane while cruise passenger arrivals showed a decrease.
The Number One Destination
In the first half of 2015 tourist arrivals by plane increased by 16.2% in Aruba, easily outnumbering other popular destinations in the Caribbean. Although Barbados and Cuba have been following at close distance Aruba is still the number one destination, according to the latest statistics by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation. Especially during winter season the flock of tourists showed a significant increase of almost 20 %.
From January up to April a monthly average of a 100,000 tourists visited Aruba by airplane. Cruise passenger arrivals showed a decrease of 16.7%. Destinations like Antigua & Barbuda, as well as destinations like Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago showed a healthy increase of passenger arrival for the first three months of 2015.
